A strict director has players re-enact the same scene, word-for-word, but altering the genre or emotion each time.
Setup and Format
- 1 Director (can be endowed by the audience to have a particular characteristic)
- 2-4 Players
- A prompt to start the scene
The actors play out a short scene where each actor says 1-3 easily memorable lines. The Director then shouts "CUT!" and monologues about how the scene was not quite right, sticking to their Director character. They then tell the actors to do it again with a new genre/style/change. The actors do the scene again with the same lines, but change the style/tone of the scene to match the director's request. Repeat 2-3 more times.
