Witness an epic slow-motion duel between two skilled samurai.
Setup and Format
- 2 players at a time.
Each player stands apart from one another then holds their arm stiff and straight: it is a poisoned samurai sword. The aim of the game is to touch the opponent (i.e. anywhere except their sword) with that arm without getting touched yourself. The catch is this whole exercise is in slow motion. If you are touched by the opponent's sword, you die (a gruesome and prolonged death).
If a player is touched by their opponent, or they move too quickly, they lose.
The slow motion is important: you must stay in slow motion while still trying to protect yourself. But also know when you're dead - sometimes you have to take the hit!
Learning Objectives
Players must commit to the game constraints. This exercise teaches that sometimes you will lose! And that's ok. It also emphasises that players must non-verbally work together to get the best scene.
